Ride Dolphins in the Sky!

Amakusa Airlines (connecting Fukuoka and Amakusa, Kumamoto) have revealed their newest– and arguably cutest– aircraft redesign featuring a trio of dolphins! The new design is featured on the airline’s Bombardier DHC 8-103– a Canadian propeller aircraft that seats 39 passengers. The main body of the passenger craft is painted as a mother dolphin, whilst the engines below the wings are painted as two baby dolphins. Inspiration from the design comes from Amakusa City’s reputation as a dolphin-watching site. The redesigned planes will be put into use by Feb. 2013, and before the launch, Amakusa Airlines is inviting applications to submit a nickname for the new aircraft (check the official website later this month). Only in Japan! Source: Nishinippon Shimbun Oct. 2, 2012, http://www.nishinippon.co.jp/nnp/item/327003, Official HP: http://www.amx.co.jp
