Saga-produced Sake Obtains GI Approval

The first GI (Geographical Indication) designation for Kyushu-produced sake was announced in Saga Prefecture on June 14. ‘GI Saga”’ guarantees the integrity of Saga-produced sake, based on the use of domestic rice and Saga water. A group of local sake experts will select products to give the brand in October 2021. The achievement is expected to boost demands for Saga-made sake in the international market.
