The Mitsui Sumitomo Bank officially recognized those companies with environmentally friendly policies at a company ceremony, and said it would offer preferential interest rates on loans to those companies. The only Kyushu company cited, and the only company in the energy field, was Fukuoka City’s Saibu Gas. The bank noted that the utility’s CO2 emissions fell as its gas sales rose, and that they promoted environmentally friendly services and products.
