Saibu Gas Holdings announced a new three-year midterm business plan starting in FY2025, allocating ¥100 billion for growth investments centered on energy. This includes expanding the Hibiki LNG terminal in Kitakyushu. The company plans to pivot from real estate and other non-gas businesses back toward its core gas and electricity operations. Citing growing demand for lower-emission LNG, Saibu Gas estimates latent demand of 300,000–400,000 tons in northern Kyushu and will launch a specialized unit in April to accelerate sales.
The company aims to increase city gas sales volume by 7% to 990 million cubic meters by FY2027 and boost electricity sales by 41% to 900 million kWh, driven by the Hibiki thermal power plant starting operations in March 2026. It targets a 50% rise in consolidated operating profit to ¥13.5 billion by FY2027. Regarding the Sakhalin-2 LNG project, set to expire in 2028, President Takuji Kato expressed interest in more stable and affordable long-term procurement options.
Saibu Gas also revised its FY2024 net profit forecast upward by ¥1 billion to ¥6 billion, despite a 2% decrease in revenue due to weaker residential gas sales. Source: Saibu Gas Holdings
