Thalasso Fukuoka, a health and wellness facility in Hakozaki and the city’s first private-finance initiative (PFI) project, is expected to top one million users since coming under new management in 2005. The center was closed for a period when the initial management company went bankrupt, but it has been able to attract a steady stream of customers since the new company took over. Thalasso Fukuoka offers thalassotherapy, or therapy using heated seawater, as well as other fitness programs, such as yoga and aerobics, and it has a fully-equipped gym.
