Semiconductor Giant TSMC Considering Second Kumamoto Factory

TSMC, a leading semiconductor company, has confirmed plans to construct its second factory in Japan, likely near their first factory under construction in Kumamoto. Chairman Liu Deyin clarified that this decision is due to increasing client demands for greater production capacity in Japan. Furthermore, the company is discussing subsidies with the Japanese and German governments for the establishment of new factories. Liu also addressed the unexpected conditions set by the US on their planned $40 billion investment in a new factory in Arizona, emphasizing the need for communication to resolve the matter. Lastly, Liu forecasted a slight decline in growth for the current year but expects a recovery and further growth next year, with capital expenditure close to the estimated $32 billion.
