In an analysis of the Kitakyushu area, the Kyushu branch of the Development Bank of Japan noted that the development of the service industry in the region lagged the strong concentration of the manufacturing industry,. The bank incorporated such factors as the per capital amount of industry output and added value for the area in their analysis. They say measures are required to boost the presence of the service industry in the area.
