Sewer Line Aging Becomes Serious
The Nishinippon Shimbun reports that the accidents caused by aging sewer lines installed during the period of rapid growth in the 60s are increasing. During 2011, the newspaper reports 97% of the 358 instances in which roads caved in were for that reason in the seven Kyushu prefectures. The life span of these lines is generally considered to be 50 years.
