The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport announced that 708.6 billion yen was budgeted for public works projects in Kyushu this fiscal year, a 22.5% reduction from the previous year. In addition, 237.7 billion yen in funds will be allocated to projects directly administered by the national government, a 9.8% cut. Finally, the subsidies to prefectures and other bodies will be slashed by 27.4% to 471.0 billion yen.
