Sojitz Partners with Oita for Large-Scale Onion Production

Sojitz and Oita Prefecture signed an agreement on October 29 to increase large-scale onion production. Already operating on 10 hectares, Sojitz aims to expand to 80 hectares and utilize unused rice paddies in multiple areas. This initiative supports local employment and aims to reduce Japan’s reliance on imported onions, a critical step given that 20% of domestic consumption is imported. Source: NHK
