Survey Work Starts for Western Leg of Kyushu Shinkansen


Surveying work has begun for the rail placement on the 45.7 kilometer stretch between Isahaya and Takeo Onsen for the western leg of the Kyushu Shinkansen. Work finally started this April on this part of the national system for the high-speed train after 35 years of planning, and the surveying is expected to be finished in March 2009. Construction of the route, which is estimated to cost 260 billion yen, will take 10 years to complete
