A craftsman was seriously injured after falling from a decorated float being prepared for the Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival in front of JR Hakata Station on the morning of the 26th. The man suffered major injuries, including broken shoulder and rib bones.
According to police, around 10:20 am on the 26th, the man in his fifties fell about seven meters from a decorated float that had been set up in the plaza in front of JR Hakata Station, located in Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City. The injured man was rushed to the hospital, where it was reported that he had sustained serious injuries, including broken shoulder and rib bones.
The individual who fell was a “Yamakasa carpenter” involved in assembling and decorating the float. It’s believed he accidentally fell while working on the upper part of the float.
