Since 2000, a remarkably small number of typhoons have come ashore at Kyushu, and a record was set during the period of 2000 – 2003 when none came ashore for four straight years. Further, the last to hit Kyushu was #5 in August 2007. If none come ashore this year, it will have been five straight years and another record.
