The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport approved the construction plans for the western leg of the Kyushu Shinkansen route. Plans call for a groundbreaking ceremony to be held in Ureshino, Saga Prefecture, on April 28, and a commemorative party in Isahaya, Nagasaki Prefecture, the same day. The approved route is 45.7 kilometers long and extends from Takeo Onsen in Saga to Isahaya. It will take 10 years to build and cost 260 billion yen.
