Trials will begin in February of a wireless LAN service that shoppers at the Canal City Hakata shopping complex can use to access product information with handheld terminals. The system will also provide information on the user’s location in the complex, helping prevent children from getting lost. The trials are part of a program promoted by the national government, which will bear the roughly 100-million-yen expense.
