Kitakyushu-based Yaskawa Electric will expand the production capacity of its existing inverter plant in Shanghai to meet burgeoning demand, and is considering building a new plant in the city’s suburbs. The company plans to decide later this year whether to build a second plant and keep the first, or to build a larger facility for all their production. Inverters are used to control the motors in elevators and climate control systems, and are important for conserving energy.
