Rahmawati Hidayah (Yaya)

Yaya has a family history in Fukuoka: her father was an architecture ryugakusei for six years and president of Kyushu University Foreign Students Association. Yaya returned to Fukuoka, where she spent her Middle School years, to follow her father’s footsteps both into architecture at Kyushu University, and into student leadership. Now the incoming president of FOSA (Fukuoka Overseas Students Association), we asked Yaya about her plans for the future. “I want FOSA to reach as many people as possible, and to broaden our appeal across Kyushu. Many of our members who graduate lose contact with their friends here, so one of my plans is to collect together data on previous and current alumni”. This year will also see the first FOSA food festival in August, and a new Summer camp in September. “For new students who are far from home and may not speak Japanese, it can be very lonely,” Says Yaya. “FOSA helps people make friends and connect with other people.” If you’re interested in taking part in FOSA events contact fosa2009@googlegroups.com
