JR Kyushu announced on January 25 plans to establish a committee of 15 companies that own land around Hakata Station. The group will explore what measures can be put in place to generate interest in the surrounding area, and plans to utilize support from Fukuoka City to help facilitate their efforts to redevelop local facilities. This follows from the city’s announcement earlier this month that they intend to promote redevelopment projects that will take place within a 500-meter radius of Hakata Station. The relevant parties will meet on January 30 with the aim of officially setting up the provisionally named Hakata Station Area Development Council this spring. Source: Yomiuri Shimbun, 1/26/2019
