A total of 15 countries including Papua New Guinea and Fiji from the Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC) will hold training camps in Fukuoka Prefecture during the build up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. An agreement with the ONOC, which is the international organization of 17 national Olympic committees from the Oceania region, was signed on Dec. 14. All members apart from Australia and New Zealand will train at cities throughout the prefecture, including Yanagawa, Miyama, Miyako, and Chikujo. The various sports teams of each country have not yet been allocated specific venues. ONOC Headquarters Secretary General Ricardo Blas stated how impressed he was with the facilities and support from locals, while Fukuoka Prefectural Governor Hiroshi Ogawa expressed his desire for the area to help in bringing the best out of the visiting athletes.
