Since its inception in December 1994, the Celtic Society of Japan has been promoting self-directed learning about Celtic culture and Ireland, including its culture, history, music, and videos, from Fukuoka. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of its founding, the “Celtic Ireland Festival” will be held.
The first part of the event will feature the performance of the Irish national anthem, an Irish harp recital, an introduction to Ireland, and the presentation of folk tales through Ireland’s traditional oral culture, “storytelling.” In the second part, “Tabula Rasa,” a band formed as the opening act for Taro Hakase’s tour, will perform traditional Irish instruments such as the fiddle (violin) and guitar, in collaboration with an Irish harp.
