Kyokuen Nakamura, owner of a Chikuzen biwa (Japanese lute) that is one of Fukuoka City’s Designated Intangible Cultural Properties, is about to celebrate her 100th birthday! To commemorate this milestone, her biwa as well as photographs will be displayed on the second floor of Hakata Machiya Folk Museum. There will be a biwa performance on Oct. 22 (Sat.) by the chairman of the Chikuzen Biwa Fukuoka Asahi Association (and other members) at 19:00~ and 20:00~.
