During the four-day Obon period, the annual “Mitama Matsuri” festival is held, a cherished tradition where numerous lanterns are displayed throughout the shrine grounds to show gratitude to the shrine’s deity of peace and one’s ancestors at the Gokoku Shrine. More than 6,000 lanterns donated by citizens and local businesses illuminate the sacred grove, creating a mesmerizing ambiance. Along the approach, a flea market-style night market is set up, featuring over 160 booths offering various goods and gourmet food. This event is a blend of reverence, illumination, and lively market hustle that visitors eagerly anticipate every year.
