Events

This annual summer festival is held for two days from morning to night on the day of the sea and the Sunday before the day of the sea. The festival has been handed down as the “Hozuki Summer Festival” since people used to dedicate hozuki to pray for good health and blessings. Hozuki’s bright orange fruit, which is often seen as a lantern and is often displayed during Obon, is sold at the festival. There are also many events for children to enjoy, including a rock-paper-scissors contest with a shrine maiden, a yukata (summer kimono) contest, watermelon splitting, eating shaved ice early, drinking Ramune early, and more.
