Since 1995, “La semaine de la Francophonie” has provided the opportunity for French-speaking countries around the world to organize special annual events in celebration of the French language, French-speaking countries and their cultures. Around one thousand events happen worldwide, including in Japan, where the French Institutes host special activities. This year, French Institut of Fukuoka is putting Switzerland under the spotlight with two events in March. On March 22 a Swiss cheese “raclette” evening will be held from 7pm, at le Cafe Pao de Lo, in Daimyo, where the French Institute is located. Along with the raclette, you can enjoy delicious Swiss wines. Popular Swiss comic artist from Geneva, Mr. Peeters will be the guest of honor, following his conference the day before (info here). Seating is limited so make sure to book your ticket in advance by calling the French Institute (092-712-0904) or going there directly.
