Okura Hotel Fukuoka is not only one of the city’s most well-known luxury hotels, it also has a brewery in the basement. The hotel’s dedicated brewery staff have been making the original Hakata Draft brand craft beer since the hotel opened in 1999, well before the craft beer boom hit Japan. The brewery also makes three other beers, the Als (kölsch), the SchÖn Alt (altbier) and the Daikoku (stout) as well as special limited-time-only seasonal brews. They say the best beer is the freshest beer, so stop by the Okura Brewery for super fresh craft beer and a delicious oven-baked pizza. You can also buy six-packs of Okura Brewery’s craft beer from the hotel gift shop on the first floor (330 ml x 6; ¥4,600).
