As of the 21st, Kyushu’s seven prefectures and two special ordinance cities had 750 requests for their offers of free public housing from people who lost their homes in the Tohoku earthquake, according to a Nishinippon Shimbun survey. Of these, housing has been arranged for 52 households. Many local municipalities in the region are also offering the use of vacant housing in their jurisdictions.
