Agriculture Theme Cafe and Showroom Opens in Akasaka

OREC Greens Lab Fukuoka will soon open in Akasaka as a new hub to connect people, goods and experiences related to agriculture and food. Under the company’s philosophy “to create something before anyone else does that will be helpful to the world,” OREC Co., Ltd., an agricultural-machinery producer based in Yame City of Fukuoka Prefecture, will open the facility as a branding base. Located on the northwest corner of the Akasaka Intersection, the four-story building will have cafe spaces on the first three floors. The cafe floors will have a unique concept to connect guests with agriculture and food, as well as a showroom for the company’s products, a library with 250 books about agriculture, food and manufacturing, and an open space for events. The kitchen will serve okome-latte (rice latte), an original beverage made with Fukuoka-sourced organic rice, and seven more organic beverages without added sugar, preservatives or food colorings. The alternative sweeteners are rice and sweet-rice malt (amazake; made of fermented rice,) and there will also be organic domestic tea leaves such as sencha and hojicha. Cups of Japanese-traditional yomogi herbal tea and organic, fair-trade coffee will also be served. OREC, a brand that supports organic farming with its weeding machines, will demonstrate its concept of “living with plants” by holding workshops such as wild-grass tea making and herbal soap making at its event space too.
