Airlines See 80% Recovery in Fukuoka Airport Traffic

Bookings for flights arriving and departing from Fukuoka Airport during the extended holiday period have increased by 20% to 30% compared to the same time last year, showing a recovery of about 80% when compared to pre-pandemic levels. Airlines are urging passengers to allow extra time at the airport, as luggage check-in and security checks may take longer than usual. Airlines have announced reservation statuses for the extended holiday period, from April 29 to May 7. Among them, the number of reservations for domestic flights at Fukuoka Airport has increased by 19.2% for Japan Airlines, with 113,803 passengers, and by 26.5% for All Nippon Airways, with 129,820 passengers, compared to the same period in the previous year. When compared to four years ago, before the spread of the novel coronavirus, Japan Airlines has recovered to 86.7% and All Nippon Airways to 75.6%, reaching around 80% recovery overall. The peak of congestion during the extended holiday period for flights at Fukuoka Airport is expected to be between May 2 and 3 for arrivals and between May 6 and 7 for departures, for both Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways. Airlines continue to encourage passengers to arrive early at the airport and to allow extra time for luggage check-in and security checks. Source: NHK
