Fukuoka City-based consumer electronics mass merchandiser Best Denki released figures for its business performance during the year ended February 2011. Sales fell by 1.3% from the previous year to 340.969 billion yen, the third consecutive decline. Despite the lower revenue, however, by closing unprofitable shops and other measures, the company posted current profit of 5.854 billion yen, a swing from a 5.698 billion yen loss during the previous year. It was the first profit that the company posted in three years. Meanwhile, the non-consolidated operating profit was a record high 6.85 billion yen, a swing from a 1.294 billion yen loss the previous year.
