Canal City Hakata will unveil a brand-new gourmet street, “CANAL Gourmet Street ‘KUOHKA’” (hereafter referred to as “KUOHKA”), on Friday, July 18, 2025, on the B1F level of the Grand Building.
A new culinary hub debuts in Canal City Hakata!
KUOHKA brings together 21 eagerly anticipated eateries, including 8 making their debut in Japan or Kyushu.
The name “KUOHKA” is a portmanteau of the Japanese words kuu (to eat) and ouka (to revel), reflecting the concept of a food street where visitors can casually enjoy exceptional cuisine in a gourmet-rich environment. This new dining area features a total of 21 standout establishments, including 8 firsts for Japan or Kyushu and 7 new concepts from popular restaurants—offering a vibrant gourmet alley that is set to become a new must-visit food destination in Fukuoka.
Featuring restaurants supervised by Michelin-starred chefs and brand-new concepts from popular eateries
Every restaurant in KUOHKA contributes to enhancing Fukuoka’s culinary status. Among the 21 establishments are those overseen by chefs who have earned Michelin stars, as well as new ventures from acclaimed restaurants. With a well-balanced mix of Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine, KUOHKA also features a wine bar and contemporary snack bars, ensuring a wide appeal across all ages and tastes.
A vibrant gourmet street where alleyways and eateries merge
A defining feature of KUOHKA is its layout—designed like a town with an engaging mix of open and semi-closed spaces. The alleys and restaurants are thoughtfully arranged to create a lively, inviting food street.
