Starting next month, the city of Fukuoka will initiate a new program which will deliver monthly supplies such as diapers to families with children up to two years old. This novel initiative, the first of its kind in a government-designated city, is aimed at easing the burden of households with young children.
Families with children aged from 0 to 2 living in Fukuoka city are eligible for the “Diaper and Peace of Mind Regular Delivery” program. By registering on a dedicated website and collecting electronic stamps through the use of child-rearing support facilities, families can choose and exchange their favorite items from diapers, milk, and undershirts. For the first three months after birth, electronic stamps can be obtained by answering a survey.
In addition to reducing the burden on families raising children, the initiative also aims to prevent child abuse and social isolation of caregivers. Moreover, Fukuoka city will start delivering a “Celebration Box” filled with diapers, baby wipes, and picture books to families with newborns from next month. Source: Fukuoka City / RKB
