The Kyushu District Transport Bureau announced on January 24 that the number of foreign arrivals in Kyushu in December 2022 was 176,559 (preliminary figures). The number represents 90% of the 197,110 in the same month of 2019 before the new coronavirus disaster. This is the second consecutive month that the number of cases had exceeded 100,000, following November of the same year, when the number exceeded 100,000 for the first time in two years and nine months. The total number of inbound visitors in 2022 (preliminary figures) was 402,196, a 90% decrease from 2019.
