The Kyushu branch of the Development Bank of Japan released the results of its survey showing that Fukuoka City has the highest ratio of women in their 20s of any of the nation’s specially designated cities or the 23 wards of Tokyo. The survey also found that there are roughly 10% more women of that age in the city than men of the same age. The male-female ratio was roughly equal in 1995, but the bank thinks many women from throughout Kyushu have gone to the city for higher education or to seek employment.
