Fukuoka Maintains Health Alerts Despite Dip in Infections

Fukuoka Prefecture has released its latest weekly data on infectious diseases, indicating that influenza and a type of streptococcal infection (Group A Streptococcal Pharyngitis) remain at alert levels. Despite a significant drop in influenza cases to 3,167, marking a decrease from the previous week by 1,611 individuals, the prefecture has issued an influenza alert for the 15th consecutive week. The average cases per medical institution have also decreased to 15.99, which is 0.66 times the figure from the prior week. Concurrently, the average incidence of the streptococcal infections per institution has risen to 6.73, increasing to 1.10 times the number reported last week, with the prefecture issuing an alert for the seventh consecutive week. COVID-19 cases have decreased to 1,043, down by 287 from the previous week. Local authorities are urging the public to continue rigorous hygiene practices, including handwashing, gargling, and appropriate mask usage, due to the ongoing presence of infections at an alarming level.
