The Meteorological Agency has issued a three-month forecast indicating that the northern part of Kyushu will likely experience warmer than average temperatures, prompting warnings for people to be vigilant against heatstroke. On the 20th, the Fukuoka District Meteorological Observatory released a forecast spanning July to September.
The report suggests that the “El Niño phenomenon”, characterized by higher than average sea surface temperatures near the equator off the coast of South America, is currently in effect and is likely to continue into the fall. Consequently, the northern part of Kyushu is expected to be frequently enveloped in warm air over the next three months.
As a result, the average temperature for July and September is projected to be “around or above average”, while August is expected to be “above average”. In terms of precipitation, due to the influence of fronts and moist air, rainfall in July is anticipated to be “around or more than average”, while August and September are expected to be “almost average”.
