The Hankyu Ferry Co., which operates a ferry service with Kitakyushu-Kobe and Kitakyushu-Osaka routes, announced it had posted a non-consolidated loss for the year ended March 2011, its first loss in 10 years. Their operating loss was 830 million yen, down from a 245 million profit for the year-before period. The company attributed the loss to the economic downturn and discount expressway fares.
