Inflow of Head Offices in Fukuoka Exceeds Outflow for Fifth Consecutive Year

The Fukuoka Branch of Teikoku Databank announced that 57 companies relocated their headquarters from elsewhere in Japan to Fukuoka Prefecture in 2021, compared to 45 that moved out of the prefecture. The influx appears to be due in part to the ongoing construction and renewal of office space as part of Fukuoka City’s “Tenjin Big Bang” redevelopment initiative. By region, the most significant inflow came from Tokyo, with 19 companies, or one-third of the total, mainly from IT (information technology) companies. The service sector, including IT, accounted for the largest number of companies moving in by industry, at 27. Source: Nikkei
