Tokyo-based Actis, which develops software for cell phones, signed an agreement with the city of Takeda in Oita Prefecture to grow tomatoes and other produce in that city. The company intends to employ the expertise it has gained from its business to grow and sell produce more efficiently. This will involve the accumulation of temperature and soil moisture data to create a manual. The company plans to begin operations next January.
