The Japan Bank for International Cooperation has signed an agreement with Kyushu Electric Power’s Australian subsidiary to lend about four million dollars for the production of liquid natural gas. The loan will be in dollars as a way to deal with the appreciation of the yen, and the bank will use a special foreign currency account established for that purpose. Demand for LNG is climbing throughout the world, and JBIC hopes to ensure that Japan has a stable supply.
