The Agency for Natural Resources and Energy has decided to conduct trials of a new smart grid for electric power in Kitakyushu’s Yahatahigashi Ward, it was learned. The trials are scheduled to start this fiscal year, and will be conducted for five years at a cost of 10 billion yen. The smart grid is a mechanism for the use of new forms of electric power generated from solar, wind, or fuel cells.
