Kyushu Auto Parts Makers Suffering from High Yen


A recent survey by Fukuoka Prefecture of the effect of yen appreciation on 50 auto parts manufacturers in the prefecture found that more than 70% said their profits had fallen as a result. The higher yen has caused car companies to apply pressure on the costs of their suppliers. Other concerns cited by the companies were the reduction in orders overall, which is forcing them to cut operating costs and lay off employees.
