Production by the four major automobile companies in Kyushu in FY 2010 reached a record high 1.14 million units, it was learned. This was attributed to the recovery of demand in the North American market and the full scale operation of Nissan Shatai’s local plant. There are concerns this level can be maintained, however, with the loss of the subsidies for electric cars and rising fuel prices.
