The Fukuoka City-based Kyushu Economic Research Center released the results of their survey of companies headquartered in Kyushu and Yamaguchi and Okinawa prefectures for establishing an overseas presence in 2010. They found the number of such cases to be 80, the second consecutive annual increase. The center said, “Local companies have rebounded from the 2008 global economic downturn to accelerate their move overseas against a backdrop of Asian economic growth and the high yen”.
