The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications released the results of its national survey of land values as of July 1. The results showed a clear benefit from the opening of the Kyushu Shinkansen, as the valuation of land increased near the stations as well as commercial facilities and residential areas along the route. In contrast, the same survey showed the valuation of commercial property declined 4.0% and residential property 3.2% nationwide.
