Kyutech Startup to Train 10,000 Semiconductor Designers in Kitakyushu

Centassist Academy, a startup from Kyushu Institute of Technology based in Kitakyushu, announced plans to train 10,000 advanced semiconductor design professionals over five years. Using cutting-edge tools from U.S. design software firm Synopsys, the program will start accepting applicants in December 2025 and launch courses in early 2026 for engineers and science students. Three course options—ranging from three days to two months—will offer hands-on training, including cleanroom-based manufacturing practice at the Kitakyushu Science and Research Park. The company has also hired Filipino engineers under Japan’s National Strategic Special Zone program to address future instructor needs. CEO Yusuke Nakaoka said the initiative aims to tackle Japan’s projected shortage of 40,000 semiconductor professionals within the next decade. Source: Kitakyushu City
