The Fukuoka Chamber of Commerce and Industry released its survey of the hiring plans of 330 local companies next spring. Reflecting the economic downturn, the percentage of companies that say they will hire new employees fell 16 percentage points from last year to 50.3%. This is the sharpest decline since the survey began in 1995. One bright spot in the survey was that 89.8% of companies with at least 500 employees plan to hire.
