The Nishinippon Sports Shimbun, commonly referred to as Nishi Supo, published its 20,00th edition on Saturday the 15th. The publication was launched on February 21, 1955. It features stories about sports in Kyushu and the athletic exploits of Kyushu natives. Former slugger and Hawks manager Sadaharu Oh said, “It is a bridge that links pro baseball players with the fans. It has played a leading role among the sports media while upholding tradition.”
