The Nishi-Nippon Railway Co. (Nishitetsu) said their trial calculations indicate it is highly likely they will have to cut back on train service if the electricity reduction contemplated by Kyushu Electric Power this summer is as low as 7%-8%. The company said that the reduction of service is a last resort, and they would avoid doing so during the morning and evening commute hours. They also said that if the power reductions exceed 5%, the company will have difficulty compensating merely by reducing lighting and air conditioning at facilities.
