Numbers Down for Passenger Ship Travel to South Korea


The Kyushu District Transport Bureau reported that the number of passengers traveling by ship between Kyushu/Yamaguchi Prefecture and South Korea in FY 2009 plunged 20.7% from the year-before period to about 868,000 people. This was the first time in four years passenger totals fell below the one-million mark. It is the second straight year of decline, and the extent of the decline in the largest on record.
