This morning, three Brits, two Americans and a Canadian gathered in front of Hakata Station to practice their sumo techniques for Nippon Now’s Hakata Basho! First up were Adeline (fitness instructor, New York) and Sam (student, Bristol). Then Fukuoka Now co-workers Nick (publisher) and Jess (editor). Comedy Fukuoka’s Bobby and Ollie acted as referee and commentator respectively, before taking to the mat for their own showdown. Onlookers gawked and laughed as the padded wrestlers threw themselves at each other, safe in their squishy sumo suits.
